Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt playmaker Daichi Kamada, according to the Daily Mail.

The English newspaper claims that Borussia Dortmund are the heavy favourites to secure the Japanese international’s signature, with the player having “verbally” agreed to move to Signal Iduna Park.

However, both United and Chelsea are hoping to change Kamada’s mind. The midfielder (who has scored 13 goals this season) can leave Frankfurt on a free transfer when his current deal expires at the end of the season, and foreign clubs can discuss a pre-contract agreement.

In contrast, Dortmund will have to wait until June before they make their move, hence the verbal agreement rather than a written one. It means the player can still join another team if he so wishes.

Whether Kamada would be a priority target for United, though, it is debatable. He can play in central midfield but his best position is as a no.10 which is a role currently filled by Bruno Fernandes.
