United And Arsenal Dealt Blow In Attempts To Sign £32m Rated Canadian Ace

Gent striker Jonathan David “sees his next step” in the Bundesliga and “nowhere else” according to Het Laatste Nieuws

The Belgian newspaper claims the Canadian international is being pursued by Arsenal, Manchester United, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Lyon, Porto, Ajax, Lyon, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach.

However, David is adamant that Germany is the best move for him. Gladbach are the team to have reportedly made the first move, having made a bid of €25m (£23m), but Gent are said to be holding out for around €30m (£27m) to €35m (£32m).

That is a very high asking price considering the financial impact of the global crisis and Het Laatste Nieuws say that the only team in Germany who would be able to match Gent’s demands are Bayern.

If the Bundesliga champions opt against making an offer for David, it could still allow the likes of United back into the race.
