United Among Three Premier League Sides Pursuing Brazilian Flyer With 88M Release Clause

Manchester United and Arsenal have been joined by Aston Villa in the race to sign Real Betis winger Luiz Henrique, according to reports.

The Red Devils and the Gunners have been keeping tabs on the Brazilian over the last month or so, having sent scouts to watch the player in action. However, Villa may look to beat their rivals to Henrique’s signature by making a formal bid before the transfer window closes next week.

Unai Emery’s side were planning to recruit Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams but the Spanish international has turned down a move to the Midlands club.

Henrique is seen as the main alternative, but teams are likely to find it difficult to sign the 22-year-old. Betis only snapped him up from Fluminense for an initial €7m (£6.1m) in the summer and the forward now has a €100m (£88m) release clause.

Even after loaning Wout Weghorst from Burnley, United are still said to be looking at ways to strengthen their forward line ahead of deadline day, but a deal for Henrique may be out of the question.
