United Add Two Stars Worth A Combined £145m To Shortlist Of Centre Back Targets

Manchester United have included Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt and Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly on their list of summer transfer targets, according to ESPN.

De Ligt only moved to Juve for €75m (£66m) last summer but the Red Devils are said to be keeping tabs on the Dutch international who has been in and out of Maurizio Sarri’s starting eleven this season.

Juve are unlikely to sell the 20-year-old but it is said that United are waiting in the wings if the Serie A champions reconsider their position on the player.

In Koulibaly’s case, the Senegalese defender has been on the Manchester club’s radar for a long time, but reports suggest that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is holding out for at least €90m (£79m) for the 28-year-old.

ESPN report that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is very keen on recruiting a new centre-back this summer, and there are likely to be more players being targeted, in case de Ligt and Koulibaly are not available.
