United Ace Set To Be Rewarded With New £25k A Week Contract

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood is set to be handed a new long-term contract worth £25,000 a week, according to The Athletic.

The website reports that the new deal will increase his pay significantly from the £800 a week he is currently earning at Old Trafford. It is still not a huge amount by modern football standards but United are being careful not to offer huge contracts to young players.

Instead, Greenwood will be rewarded based on the number of matches he plays for the first team, with his salary guaranteed to be increased by a clause if he becomes a regular starter.

The 17-year-old is likely to play a prominent role under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this campaign following the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.

Greenwood has already featured as a substitute in all four of United’s games, and will almost certainly be given more starts as the season goes on.
