Transfer news: Juventus superstar REJECTED chance to join to Manchester United this summer

Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic rejected the chance to join Manchester United this summer, according to reports.

Jose Mourinho was understood to be keen to land the Croatian intentional earlier in the month to help provide support up-front for Romelu Lukaku up-front.

Mourinho was impressed with Mandzukic’s displays during the World Cup this summer, with the striker being one of Croatia’s star players as they reached the final in Russia, where they were eventually beaten by France.


And the Portuguese was reportedly prepared to hand the 32-year-old a lucrative £85,000-per-week deal in order to help bring him to Old Trafford.

However, according to CalcioMercato ultimately opted to stay at Juventus after holding crunch talks with manager Massimiliano Allegri.

The Italian boss told Manduzkic he was a key part of his plans for the new season following the departure of Gonzalo Higuain, who left for AC Milan on-loan.

The Croatian superstar is set to play second choice striker at the club to record signing Cristiano Ronaldo, and is also set to be offered a new deal to keep him in Turin beyond his current contract’s 2020 expiry date.
