The midfielder is actually playing at his third World Cup, after also playing an important role in qualifying for the previous tournaments in Brazil and Russia.
Borges has had spells in Sweden, Turkey and Spain but he returned to Costa Rica last year to play for Alajuelense. He did start the first group game of the 2022 World Cup, but he was substituted with 20 minutes to go in the 7-0 defeat to Spain.
