Top 5 Most Creative Players In The Premier League This Season

Bruno Fernandes is one of the Premier League's most creative midfielders.

The Premier League is filled to the brim with talented footballers from all corners of the globe. But who are the most creative players in the division this season?

We will be taking a look at a variety of statistics for this list – including passes into the penalty area, key passes, through balls and of course, assists. All stats and figures for this list have been taken from Fbref.

We believe that there are many attributes that make a player ‘creative’ – as such, rather than just looking at assist tallies, we’ve tried to cover every base.

Players from clubs such as Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal will feature on the list – can you guess who occupies the top spot?

Martin Odegaard

Martin Odegaard is the perfect blend of industrious hard work and raw talent. He covers a lot of ground in each game and he has an excellent range of passing to back it up.

The Arsenal captain’s creative stats this season make for very positive reading – he has completed 88 passes into the penalty area, 72 key passes and he also has seven assists.

Odegaard is always a joy to watch – he frequently bombards through the middle of the pitch, looking to either play his teaates in or go for goal himself.

Kieran Trippier

Here’s a player that many probably wouldn’t have expected to see on a list of this ilk at the start of the season. Nevertheless, Kieran Trippier’s creative influence cannot be overlooked.

He has whipped in more crosses into the penalty area than any other player this season – 26 in total, two ore than Tottenham’s Ivan Perisic.

While not the most talented playmaker in the world by any means, Trippier’s ceaseless running down the right flank has helped to create no end of chances for his teammates.

Bukayo Saka

Again, Bukayo Saka is not the best playmaker the Premier League has to offer – his physicality, explosive pace and intricate dribbling are what make him so lethal.

With 11 assists to his name this season, he has the second-highest assist tally in the division. He is at his best driving down the right wing, using clever cutbacks to create openings.

It’s often easy to forget that Saka is just 21 years of age. The potential that this young man has in the world of football is beyond comprehension.

Bruno Fernandes

In many ways, Bruno Fernandes is a superior creative influence than the player in the number one spot. The ‘eye test’ may suggest otherwise, but the stats don’t lie!

He has completed more key passes this season than any other player – 108 in total. He has also played 79 passes into the penalty area and has played 32 successful through balls.

Fernandes may have his critics, but even they cannot ignore how creative he can be for Manchester United – when he isn’t having one of his many off-days.

Kevin De Bruyne

Yes – we simply couldn’t overlook Kevin De Bruyne for the top spot. People are beginning to call him the greatest midfielder in Premier League history – and they may be right.

De Bruyne’s assist tally dwarves anyone else’s in the league this season – he has set up 16 goals so far, scoring seven. He also has more goal-creating actions than anyone else, with 31.

As a creator, De Bruyne can do it all. His crossing, set-pieces, dribbling, movement and passing are all out of this world – to put him anywhere other than number one would simply be disingenuous.
