‘Too Much For A Player Out Of Contract’ ‘Waste of Money’ Fans Question Reports That United Are Planning £43m January Bid For Playmaker

Manchester United are willing to table a €50m (£43m) bid for Tottenham attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen in the January transfer window, according to El Desmarques.

The Spanish news outlet reports that Real Madrid fear losing out on the Danish international with the 27-year-old tired of waiting for the La Liga side to make their move for him.

It was reported in the summer that Eriksen turned down interest from United in the hope of getting a switch to the Bernabeu, but he appears to be reconsidering his options. Fans on Twitter do think that the Dane would be a good addition to the squad, but with the player’s contract expiring in June, they think €50m would be too much to pay:

Much may depend on how keen United are to recruit a creative midfielder in January. They are desperately short of goals in the Premier League, and Eriksen could offer a ready-made solution. Even so, it does appear a hefty price considering he will be available for free in the summer.
