THREE Times Roy Keane Has Taken No Prisoners During His Time As A TV Pundit

As we gear up for another Premier League season, United supporters in the UK will be looking forward to hearing more from club legend Roy Keane in his role as a pundit.

The former United captain has already delivered some absolute gems during his time in the studio and we are going to look at three standout moments from last season.

We’ll start with the most infamous one, where he laid into both David De Gea and captain Harry Maguire following the 1-1 draw against Tottenham. Keane was not happy about De Gea’s mistake for Steven Bergwijn’s goal:

“I would be fighting him at half time. I would be throwing punches at him.”

He was also unimpressed with Maguire’s defending leading up to the shot and he was not pulling any punches:

“I wouldn’t let them on the bus on the way home, get a taxi back to Manchester.”

There was a more light-hearted incident earlier in the season with former Manchester City defender Micah Richards describing how he emerged as a regular first-team player at the Etihad:

“I burst onto the scene, didn’t I? I was gonna be the next best thing. Yeah I won a Premier League, the FA Cup, and I got to play for a team I loved, but I underachieved because sometimes as a player you can believe the hype.”

Keane quickly snapped back questioning how a defender could make such an impact:

“Did you burst onto the scene? Very few defenders burst onto the scene… A fullback that burst onto the scene? What fullback ever burst onto the scene?”

The Irish legend has also had a series of run-ins with fellow pundit and Liverpool great Jamie Carragher over the course of the season, and when he was asked to create a combined XI between Liverpool’s 2019 Champions League winners and United’s treble winners in 1999, Keane would only include one Liverpool player, Virgin van Dijk, in his starting line up:

“He’s the only one, and Ronny Johnsen is unlucky”

Keane’s punditry is must-watch TV and United fans will no doubt be keen to hear some more dynamite quotes from the legend himself throughout the course of the new campaign.
