Three Big Transfers To Happen Under Mourinho

Everyone seems to be happy about Mourinho’s appointment as manager as his hunger for trophies and huge trophy case promise a massive change in attitude at Old Trafford. Everyone is looking forward to seeing the Devils hold up the Europa League trophy next season and maybe win the Premier League. The pressure is somewhat lifted as it is difficult to expect a team to win it all in their first year under a new manager. The focus is directed somewhere else right now as transfer talks have already begun and United have one of the biggest transfer budgets in the world. Even if LVG managed to find some amazing youngsters to invest in and promote, it is expected to see star-quality players move to Old Trafford. We look at three possible acquisitions by Jose…

The first on the list is Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Swedish international has admitted he is definitely leaving PSG and the destination could be Manchester United but is unlikely to be another Premier League team. Apparently, another possible destination is MLS where surely the lure of a massive salary is the only real attraction. Now that Mourinho is manager, Ibrahimovic has said he can see himself playing for United as he enjoyed a successful season at Inter Milan with Jose when they were both there before Zlatan made his ill-fated move to Barca.

Second on the list is Everton’s John Stones. Mourinho is a big fan of the former Barnsley man and tried with several bids to buy him from Everton last summer for Chelsea. Even though Daley Blind played well as a centre-back this season it is clear that LVG knew he needed to sign a top class centre-back demonstrated by his ill-fated pursuit of Sergio Ramos. Mourinho may have better luck at signing Stones at United as the young England international will get to stay in the North of England and there is a place almost guaranteed for him in the starting line-up at United something Chelsea could not offer last year with Cahill and Terry as the first choice pairing. Stones and Smalling could play together at Euro 2016 and continue their partnership at United.

Thirdly, Willian was signed by Mourinho back in 2013 from Shaktar Donetsk amid big interest from Spurs and the Brazilian went on to do well at Stamford Bridge culminating in his best season so far this campaign where he was the Blues’ leading scorer. Apparently Willian is a big fan of his former boss and would welcome the reunion but even at the £60million fee being mooted Chelsea are most reluctant to sell to one of their biggest rivals.

So of the three John Stones looks like the most needed and likely signing. Could Jose sign Ibrahimovic and get another big season out of him without disrupting the development of Rashford and Martial or would Higuain be a better signing. Given the problems historically between Mata and Mou it seems likely the rumour of Mata to Barca could happen with Jose then free to sign Willian if he can or another player of his type. An interesting transfer window approaches…
