Southampton will make another attempt to sign Manchester United fullback Brandon Williams on loan in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Telegraph‘s James Ducker.
The reporter claims that the Red Devils turned down an approach from the Saints for the 20-year-old back in October but they may now be willing to let him leave so he can get more game time:
Southampton still keen on signing United & England Under-21 full back Brandon Williams on loan next month after Solskjaer blocked loan exit in October https://t.co/8BYHMWU1xk #mufc

Williams has barely featured in the league this season, having made just one substitute appearance, and fans on Twitter feel he could benefit from being sent out on loan:
This would be great for Williams

Good move tbh

He’d get games, learn a lot from Hassenhitul and Bertrand for example. Also now we’ve got Telles makes so much more sense to loan him there

Makes sense to loan him out, Southampton is a great club with a good manager .

This is good. Williams needs to be sent out on loan and Southampton on fire this season. He'll learn a few from Hasenhüttl and the team

Loan only if he's guaranteed game time imo

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will, though, need to ensure that he has enough fullback options for the second half of the season. He is well stocked on the left-hand side with Luke Shaw and Alex Telles so, in that sense, Williams would not be missed.
However, they are more threadbare on the right-hand side, and if the youngster does depart for St Mary’s, United may well be considering a move for another right-back in January.
