‘This Makes Me Feel Sick’ ‘Who Cares?’ ‘I Swear We Are Finished’ United Fans Disappointed After Major Development

Antonio Conte has been officially unveiled as Tottenham’s new manager, succeeding Nuno Espirito Santo who was sacked after the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday.

Conte was a prime candidate to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford and, with the ex-Chelsea boss now off the market, supporters on Twitter think it may well be a missed opportunity:

It does seem as though United’s win against Spurs at the weekend set this whole train in motion. The Athletic‘s Laurie Whitwell believes Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was spurred on to pursue Conte, knowing that United may look to appoint the Italian very soon.

For his part, Conte decided he wouldn’t wait around for the United job, and he opted to take on the challenge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium instead.

Whether the Red Devils will live to regret not going after Conte will very much depend on how Solskjaer gets on against Atalanta and Manchester City this week.
