Manchester United will make a bid for Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff in the “next 48 hours,” according to the Daily Telegraph.
The 21-year-old only made 13 appearances last campaign before a knee injury ended his season prematurely, but the scouting department have seen enough of him to be convinced he has what it takes to make it at Old Trafford.
A lot of fans on Twitter don’t believe Longstaff is of sufficient quality to play for United:
This is madness

However, some supporters think he does have the talent to succeed at the Red Devils:
Be a great signing, but can’t be a starter. Lad looks really good

Sean Longstaff is a technician @simgwat

Honestly I like this young lad, in as much as they are good, just support them with few stars in technical areas

I like this new way of transfers, last time we paid but it was for players like Lukaku and that’s not worked out why not try something different?

A move for Longstaff would be a surprise. He may have impressed during his spell in the first team last campaign but he had been playing for the club’s Under 23s until January.
Players can certainly develop their game quickly, but he would still be a prospect for the future, rather than someone who could come in and make an instant impact.
