‘This Better Not Be True’ ‘Absolutely Not Needed’ Fans React As United Make Enquiry About Signing 48 Cap International

Benjamin Pavard

Manchester United have made recent enquiries about signing Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard, according to reports in the German media.

It is believed that four other teams; Inter Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Liverpool, have also registered their interest in signing the Frenchman, who has been capped 48 times by his country.

Pavard usually plays at right-back (although he can also be deployed centre-back) and most United supporters on Twitter don’t think the club need a player in his position:

With Aaron Wan-Bissaka performing so well, and Diogo Dalot set to sign a new contract, you do wonder where Pavard would fit in.

There is a possibility that manager Erik ten Hag sees the 27-year-old playing in the centre of defence, if either Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof leave, and his ability to also play on the right flank would give the team more tactical flexibility.

With Pavard only having a year left on his contract at Bayern as well, United may simply see it as an opportunity too good to turn down.
