Third Club Edge Ahead Of United And Barcelona In £75m Battle For De Ligt

Paris Saint-Germain are trying to secure the signing of Ajax centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, according to reports in Holland.

Barcelona have been firm favourites to snap up the 19-year-old but the move has stalled over the cost of the transfer and the fee owed to agent Mino Raiola.

PSG are reportedly prepared to pay the €85m (£75m) asking price as well as any agent fees.

Barca’s reluctance to meet Ajax’s demands has also raised the prospect of Manchester United, Manchester City and Real Madrid getting involved with all three said to be keen on de Ligt.

However, it appears PSG and Barcelona are now the two clubs who are leading the race to sign the Netherlands international.

De Ligt himself has said in recent days that he hasn’t decided on his future club, with reports suggesting that he may wait until after the UEFA Nations League finals next month to make his decision.
