“There Remains Interest” Journalist Reveals United Are Weighing Up Move For 3 Cap England International

Manchester United are still keen on re-signing West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, according to ESPN‘s Rob Dawson.

The journalist was talking about Dean Henderson’s future when he claimed that “there remains interest” in Johnstone, who could come in to replace Henderson as the club’s number two.

A host of other teams have been linked with Johnstone in recent weeks, with the 29-year-old set to become available on a free transfer when his contract at West Brom expires next month.

Tottenham have been touted as favourites for his signature, but West Ham and Europa League finalists Rangers have also been credited with an interest.

Johnstone came through the academy at Carrington before having a number of loan spells at other teams. He eventually left for the Hawthorns on a permanent basis in 2018 and he has since won three caps for England at senior level.

Whether he would be happy being David De Gea’s backup, it is up for debate,  so we shall see where the keeper ends up.
