“There Are Always Possibilities…” Club CEO Drops Transfer Hint As United Plot Move For 21M Rated Spanish Ace

Espanyol chief executive Mao Ye has left the door open for Manchester United target Raul de Tomas to leave the La Liga club before the end of the transfer window.

Reports over the weekend indicated that Erik ten Hag’s side may pursue a deal for the Spanish international and, when asked about the prospect of Espanyol selling the player, Ye replied:

“There are days left in the market. And there are always possibilities. But we have him in our squad.”

De Tomas is believed to have a €60m (£51m) release clause but it is thought that Espanyol would be willing to offload the striker for between €25m (£21m) and €30m (£25m).

For that price,  the 27-year-old seems like a worthwhile addition to United’s squad, having scored 17 goals in 34 league appearances last season.

De Tomas has been linked with a move to England before, with Arsenal having been mentioned as potential suitors back in January, but it appears that United are unlikely to have any competition for his signature this summer.
