The best attacks in recent years have been made up of three players all contributing to their team’s success, helping their clubs win multiple trophies.

Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez – 140 Goals Over 2 Seasons

The Manchester United attack was arguably taken apart too soon, but they still managed to win two Premier League titles and a Champions League during their time together.

Ronaldo (68) scored the most out of the three, with Rooney (38) and Tevez (34) quite a way behind the Portuguese star in terms of goal contributions.

Mahrez, Aguero and Sterling – 170 Goals Over 3 Seasons

The Manchester City trident is certainly not one of the most heralded, but its effectiveness was indisputable, bagging two Premier League crowns over a three-year period.

Surprisingly, Aguero did not get the most goals. The Argentine racked up 61 but Sterling managed 70, with Mahrez (39) still making a decent contribution too.

Robben, Lewandowski and Ribery – 275 Goals Over 5 Seasons

From 2014 to 2019, this deadly trio won five consecutive Bundesliga titles for Bayern Munich, putting opposition defenders to the sword on a weekly basis in the German top flight.

Lewandowski was, by quite some distance, the main contributor, scoring an incredible 191 goals in a five-year period, while Robben (55) ad Ribery (29) played a supporting role.

Salah, Firmino and Mane – 338 Goals Over 5 Seasons

This trio has now been split up after Sadio Mane left for Bayern Munich. The partnership helped Liverpool win their first league title in 30 years, as well as the club’s sixth Champions League crown.

Salah was definitely the fulcrum of the attack, with 156 goals to his name, but Mane (107) and Firmino (75) also did their fair share for the Reds.

Messi, Suarez and Neymar – 364 Goals Over 3 Seasons

The all-star Barcelona attack managed 26 more goals in two fewer seasons than Liverpool’s front three, winning two La Liga titles and one Champions League in the process.

Messi was of course the standout of the three, scoring 153, but Suarez wasn’t far behind on 121, with Neymar bagging himself 90 goals.

Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo – 442 Goals Over 5 Seasons

On a goals-per-game ratio, Barca’s triumvirate would come out on top but, Real’s BBC was together for longer and won more trophies in the process, lifting an astonishing four Champions Leagues and one La Liga title.

Ronaldo scored 249, over half the trio’s goals during the period, with Benzema (105) and Bale (88) some way behind in terms of their contributions.
