The Start Date For The 2020/21 Premier League Season Has Been Decided With Confirmation Expected This Week

The new Premier League season is expected to start on September 12th, according to talkSPORT. The original date for the new campaign was August 8th but due to the delay in finishing the 2019/20 season, the clubs will push the start date back by a month.

A vote on the plans is expected when a meeting of the league’s shareholders takes place later this week. As well as the start date, it is believed the final weekend is due to take place on May 16th, 2021. The season can’t run over into June due to the European Championships being held that month.

Despite the delay in starting the campaign, a winter break will, once again, be utilised in February. It will probably be needed as the Premier League look to squeeze in more midweek fixtures after pushing back the season to September.

The curtain-raiser for the new campaign, the Community Shield, is also expected to take place on August 30th, with league champions Liverpool set to face either Arsenal or Chelsea.
