Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata returned to his old stomping ground last night when his side faced Valencia.
The Spaniard left the La Liga club to join Chelsea over seven years ago, but he is still well liked by the team’s staff and fans:

The 30-year-old’s contract expires in the summer, and reports have suggested that United have entered negotiations over extending his time at the club.
When asked about his current situation before last night’s game, Mata revealed that he is content to stay in Manchester, although he didn’t say whether he is any closer to signing a contract extension:
“In terms of the club, all I can say is that I’m happy in Manchester and in England. I’ve been in England for some years now and I’m very happy to be in this incredible club so let’s see what happens but at the moment I’m very happy.”
Much may depend on the Spaniard’s playing time between now and the end of the season. The playmaker has made 17 appearances in all competitions this campaign but has started just nine times.
