The Five Norwegian Stars Who Have Scored The Most Goals In The Premier League

Following on from our look at the five highest goalscorers in Premier League history from Holland last week, we now turn our focus to Norway.

The Scandinavian country has produced some excellent strikers over the past three decades, with the latest being the incredibly talented Erling Haaland.

However, in terms of Norwegian forwards who have played in the English top-flight, it is slim pickings, with all but one on this list having not reached 50 league goals.

Press the next page as we name the most prolific scorers from Norway of the Premier League era.

5) Tore Andre Flo (Chelsea And Sunderland) – 38 Goals

The lanky striker came to prominence as a super-sub for Chelsea, coming off the bench no less than 69 times in his three and a half seasons at Stamford Bridge.

Flo moved to Rangers in November 2000 before having a less successful spell in the Premier League with Sunderland, scoring four times in 29 appearances during the 2002/03 campaign.

4) John Carew (Aston Villa and Stoke) – 38 Goals

The target man had been a key member of Rafa Benitez’s Valencia side before having spells with Besiktas and Lyon. He arrived at Villa Park in January 2007 and had three and half years as a first-team regular.

However, the arrival of Gerard Houllier as manager in 2010 limited Carew’s game time. He joined Stoke on loan midway through the 2010/11 season only to leave when his contract expired at the end of the campaign.

3) Steffen Iverson (Spurs and Wolves) – 40 Goals

The Norwegian spent seven seasons with Tottenham, ending as their top scorer in two campaigns between 1998 and 2000.

However, Iversen’s injury record meant he was let go in 2003, moving to Wolves on a one year contract. He scored four league goals for the Midlands club before returning to Norway in 2004.

2) Josh King (Bournemouth an Everton) – 48 Goals

The forward’s early senior career was spent at Manchester United but he never made a single Premier League appearance during his four years at Old Trafford, with most of his time spent out on loan.

After moving permanently to Blackburn in the Championship, King found a home at Bournemouth. The striker scored 48 league goals during five seasons with the Cherries in the top flight before joining Everton earlier this year.

1) Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (Manchester United) – 91 Goals

It won’t be a surprise to anyone that the Manchester United legend came out on top of this list. The Norwegian was a superb finisher and was expertly used by Sir Alex Ferguson as a super sub.

Solskjaer will, of course, always be remembered for his winner in the 1999 Champions League final, but in the same year, he also scored an incredible four goals when he came off the bench in an 8-1 victory against Nottingham Forest.
