‘That’s A Shame’ ‘This Club Will Never Learn’ Fans React As United Distant Themselves From Move To Hire Ex Liverpool Transfer Supremo

Manchester United are not interested in hiring former Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards as their new head of recruitment, according to multiple reports in the UK.

It has been claimed that both the Red Devils and Chelsea were pursuing Edwards but it is believed that the Manchester club remain happy with John Murtough leading transfer negotiations.

The news wasn’t well-received on Twitter, with many supporters having questioned why United wouldn’t want Edwards, considering their struggles to sign players so far this summer:

While Edwards’ track record is superb, it was always unlikely that United would rip up their new structure so soon after appointing Murtough. He was elevated to his current position of Football Director in March last year and it appears he will be given more time to establish himself in the role. Whether that will prove to be the correct decision, though, we shall have to wait and see.
