Ten Hag Issues Injury Return Timeline After Confirming Rashford “Setback”

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has admitted that the groin injury sustained by Marcus Rashford is a “setback” but he is hoping that the forward can “return quickly”.

The club have said that the 25-year-old will be available again before the end of the season, and ten Hag says the player is already undergoing rehab:

“Of course, it’s a setback, he’s (Rashford) disappointed about it but he’s not totally broke because he knows he will return quickly, he is optimistic, he will start straight on with his recovery and his rehab, so that helps to get back soon.”

Groin injuries can take three to six weeks to fully recover from, so he will definitely miss both legs of the Europa League quarter-final against Sevilla, as well as the Premier League fixture versus Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Beyond that, though, a lot will depend on whether Rashford can heal faster than expected. Obviously, there is a risk of the England international returning too early and suffering a recurrence.

However, with so few games remaining this campaign, and with so much at stake, you do get the feeling that Rashford will be rushed back into action.
