Ten Hag Has Already Spoken To 30M Dutch International Ahead Of Potential United Switch

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has been in touch with PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo, according to reports in the Dutch media.

The 23-year-old has also been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City but United seem the likeliest to make an official bid for the player ahead of the transfer deadline.

PSV won’t sanction Gakpo’s sale before both legs of their Champions League playoff against Rangers have been played so the earliest date that the Netherlands international would become a United player is August 25th.

The fee shouldn’t be an issue. While there have been some reports that PSV may demand around €50m (£42m), most journalists have claimed that €35m (£30m) could be enough to secure the winger’s signature.

United are still weighing up their options in terms of which forward target they will prioritise, but Gakpo seems to be the likeliest candidate at the moment.
