Ten Hag Drops January Transfer Hint As Romano Reveals United Have “Scouted” Dutch Star

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made it known that he wants to reinforce his options at fullback.

After praising Diogo Dalot for his performance against West Ham at the weekend, ten Hag emphasised that he was keen to provide more competition for the Portuguese defender due to the number of matches United are playing:

“The development [of Dalot] is really good, but I have to mention that a club like Manchester United needs two good fullbacks, because we have a lot of games to cover.”

Reacting to ten Hag’s comments, journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Manchester club are actively scouting targets, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong among those being considered:

Frimpong’s form for Leverkusen has also attracted the attention of Chelsea, so United may have a battle on their hands if they want to snap up the Dutchman in the January transfer window.

The defender came through Manchester City’s academy before making the move to Celtic, where he made his senior debut. After just eighteen months in Scotland, the defender was sold to Leverkusen at the start of 2021, where he has begun to flourish as a wingback.
