Ten Hag Adds Dutch U21 Ace To Four Man Striker Shortlist As United Consider Cheaper Alternatives To Kane

Manchester United are interested in signing Ajax forward Brian Brobbey, according to ESPN.

The Netherlands Under 21 international has been added to a shortlist with three other strikers, including Juventus’s Dusan Vlahovic, Roma and former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham, as well as Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani.

It is believed that Brobbey and the aforementioned trio are being considered if the club are priced out of moves for Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

Both are expected to cost in excess of £100m and ESPN claim that the club’s total transfer budget for the summer transfer window is a similar figure so cheaper alternatives could be looked at.

Who is Brian Brobbey?

The Dutchman came through Ajax’s academy before leaving for RB Leipzig in 2021. After a very brief stint in Germany, he returned to Ajax on loan and then sealed a permanent switch back to the Netherlands last summer.

This season, the 21-year-old has scored 13 goals in 43 appearances for his club, whilst also being named in the preliminary squad for the Netherlands at the World Cup.
