Tottenham will only look to sign Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard if they manage to offload Dele Alli before the transfer window closes, according to Fabrizio Romano.
When asked about Lingard’s possible move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Twitter last night, the Italian journalist said it was dependent on Alli’s departure:
Lingard > Tottenham possible only if Dele Alli will leave. Let’s see on next days.

Some supporters have been debating whether United should be interested in taking Alli, while others would be keen to see Lingard leave Old Trafford no matter the circumstances:

I would have considered it if we hadn’t signed Van de Beek.

Why don’t we just do a swap deal @ManUtd

It does seem like Lingard’s career with the Red Devils has reached a crossroads. He is fit but his last start came against LASK Linz in the 2-1 win at the start of August.
With Daniel James and Mason Greenwood ahead of him in the pecking order for a position in the frontline, and Donny van de Beek having arrived to provide even more competition in the attacking midfield role, the 27-year-old is very unlikely to get much game time this season if he stays.
