Star Wants United Stay

According to multiple reports this weekend, Angel Di Maria has told Louis van Gaal he is happy at Manchester United and wishes to stay, despite reports United could cut their losses with the player.

It has emerged that the £60 million record signing is in discussions about extending the lease on the city centre apartment he is renting.

Unfortunately, Di Maria hasn’t had the perfect start to life at United. When the £60 million man signed, there was a huge sense of excitement among most Premier League fans, however, the player still is yet to make the big impression you just know he is capable of.

Di Maria has told friends it has been the toughest year of his career after also struggling with the physical demands and intensity of the Premier League.

The Argentine has not scored a league goal since October 5, and has recently been dropped from the starting XI, following his sending off against Arsenal for pushing referee Michael Oliver.

As well as the misery on the pitch, off the pitch it hasn’t gone too well for Di Maria either. The player was left shaken in February, after his family were victims of an attempted gunpoint burglary at their home. It was said that Di Maria was at home having dinner with his wife and daughter at the time of the attempted burglary.

It is fair to say you wouldn’t blame the lad if he wanted out of England, but it is rumoured that the Argentine has told the club he is staying. The 27-year-old and his family have now settled into an apartment in Manchester and are said to have overcome their recent scare.

It’s a no brainer that Angel di Maria has a place at United. He still has much to prove, but it’s clear a player of that stature will come good at some point. With the season nearly over, United fans will look ahead to next season and hope for an improvement which would see Di Maria back to his best and playing a major role once again.
