Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has criticised the impact of Paul Pogba since he arrived at Manchester United four years ago.
The France international has been benched by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in recent games and when asked about the midfielder’s situation, Carragher said the 27-year-old has consistently underperformed no matter who has been in charge at Old Trafford:
“He’s possibly never done well in any position or tactical set up that different managers have had Would I pick him in the Manchester United team? No, I wouldn’t. He’s a huge name, he’s come for a huge transfer fee, but I don’t think he’s a great player.”
Unsurprisingly, this stirred a lot of debate on Twitter, with some agreeing with Carragher’s remarks on Pogba, while others questioned why they should listen to a former Liverpool player:

Pogba’s career would suggest he is a great player, no matter what Carragher says. Four league titles at Juventus and one World Cup is not be sniffed at, but there is a grain of truth in the fact that the Frenchman has never really fitted into a tactical system since he returned to United.
Some would describe him as a “luxury player” who needs a team built around him but, with Bruno Fernandes performing so well, that is highly unlikely to happen, hence the reason he has been benched.
