Southampton V Manchester United: Preview, Team News And Betting Odds

After hammering Leeds on the opening day, Manchester United will be in confident mood heading into their first away game of the season.

They will be facing a Southampton side who lost to Everton last weekend, but Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men will want to use the return of a full St Mary’s crowd to get their campaign up and running.

In terms of team news, United have a number of injury doubts going into the match on Sunday. Raphael Varane, Eric Bailly, Edinson Cavani and Phil Jones are all lacking match fitness, while Dean Henderson has still not fully recovered from the virus.

Marcus Rashford (shoulder) and Alex Telles (ankle) have, though, already been ruled out for the trip to the south coast.

The Saints have fewer fitness concerns, with Sam McQueen and William Smallbone (both knee) the only players currently sidelined with injuries.

At the bookies, United are the firm favourites with Paddy Power pricing them at 8/13 for the win. A draw is currently 33/10 with Unibet while a victory for Southampton is 24/5 at William Hill.

Predicted Score – 2-0 to United
