Some Premier League Teams Unlikely To See Return Of Fans Inside Stadiums Despite Government Announcement

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed that Premier League clubs will be allowed to have fans back inside stadiums when the lockdown is lifted in England on December 2nd.

A three-tier system will be put in place. Tier 1, which is regarded as medium risk, will allow up to 4000 fans. Tier 2, which is regarded as high risk, will only enable 2000 supporters inside grounds.

For those teams in Tier 3, which is the highest risk category, games will continue to be played behind closed doors until such a time that virus infection numbers have been reduced below a certain threshold.

Johnson has warned that more areas will be classed as Tier 3 than they were before the lockdown as the government put in place stricter measures, so it is assumed that a number of Premier League clubs won’t be allowed to have any supporters at all.

More details about which regions of England will be in Tier 3 will be announced by the government later this week.
