Solskjaer Reveals Why 2 United Stars Had To Be Subbed Last Night And It’s Not Good News

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Victor Lindelof had to be substituted last night due to fitness problems.

In an interview after the 4-1 home win over Istanbul Basaksehir, Solskjaer said the pair are now touch and go for the match against Southampton on Sunday afternoon:

“Hopefully, they’ll be ready for the weekend. It’s ankle for Aaron and back for Victor. There was no point taking any more risks.”

Wan-Bissaka’s ankle injury will be a major concern with the right-back’s understudies being the relatively inexperienced Brandon Williams, who hasn’t played that much this season, or Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

Lindelof’s back problem is something that has been an ongoing issue for a number of weeks and he is currently being managed through games. Whether he’ll need a longer period out at some point, we shall have to wait and see,

Considering the number of games being played between now and the New Year, there will be very little time for players to rest so it’s inevitable that the squad will pick up more and more knocks but hopefully, the pair recover quickly.
