Solskjaer Hints Two United Starlets Will Feature Against Chelsea

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested that both James Garner and Brandon Williams will play some part in the Carabao Cup tie against Chelsea this evening.

The Red Devils are expected to ring the changes at Stamford Bridge, and when asked about the possibility of bringing in the two teenagers for the cup fixture following the win at Norwich, Solskjaer replied:

“I would think so. Jimmy played 10-15 minutes tonight and was excellent, calmed us down and made some good decisions when we wanted to see the game out. We have not made a decision on who is going to play, but you will probably see the two of them.”

Williams, in particular, has been impressive following his performance against Partizan Belgrade last week. The fullback made his debut against Rochdale in the Carabao Cup last month and has gone on to make two further starts in the Europa League.

Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw’s continued absence, along with Axel Tuanzebe, means the 19-year-old is a strong contender to get more game time against the Blues.

Garner, meanwhile, made his full debut versus Partizan last week, playing 82 minutes of the 1-0 win before making his first league appearance of the season as a late substitute in the 3-1 victory over Norwich on Sunday.
