Solskjaer Admits He Regrets Absence Of United Star For City Defeat

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted his side missed the “presence” of Edinson Cavani as they failed to score in the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City last night.

The Uruguayan international is currently suspended, and when asked about the striker’s absence after the loss in the Carabao Cup, Solskjaer said it was a blow to not have him available:

Cavani is serving a three-game ban for comments he made on social media so he will also not be in the squad when United face Watford in the FA Cup on Saturday.

With Anthony Martial having put in a rather listless display against City, Solskjaer will be keen to have Cavani back as soon as possible in order to breath new life into his attack.

The 33-year-old will almost certainly be in the starting line up when the Red Devils face Burnley next Tuesday and, if he plays well, you wouldn’t bet against him playing in the crucial match versus Liverpool either.
