Sky Sports Reporter Claims £60m Deal ‘Will Happen’ As United Close In On ‘Major’ Signing

Sky Sports‘ Manchester correspondent James Cooper is very confident that Manchester United will finalise a deal for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

Reports in the Portuguese press had claimed that the two clubs were still far apart on agreeing a transfer fee, but Cooper is sure that the Red Devils will try to secure the 25-year-old’s signature at all costs:

“Given that United have put all their eggs in one basket – it’s the only player they are talking to, it’s the only major deal they are trying to do – you’d be surprised if they couldn’t get that deal over the line. It will happen and I think Solskjaer will want that player in as quickly as possible.”

Sky Sports claim that a deal worth up to £60m is being hashed out and that Fernandes could well be in the stands for United’s game against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

It has been an extended transfer saga involving the Portuguese international with reports linking him with a move to Old Trafford going all the way back to the summer.

However, with Paul Pogba (ankle) and Scott McTominay (knee) out injured, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate for reinforcements in the centre of the pitch, and it seems the Norwegian will get his wish with United closing in on Fernandes.
