Sky Journalist Claims United Switch For Bundesliga Star Is “More Than Possible” With Talks Expected After The World Cup

Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg believes Manchester United could make a move for Bayer Leverkusen wingback Jeremie Frimpong in the New Year.

Both the Red Devils and Chelsea have been linked with the Netherlands international but Plettenberg claims Erik ten Hag’s side are the team likeliest to step up their interest in the player:

Frimpong actually came through Manchester City’s academy before he joined Celtic. He made his first-team debut for the Hoops but he only stayed in Scotland for eighteen months, with Leverkusen snapping him up for £12m in January last year.

The 21-year-old is a very attack-minded player, which means he is more suited to a wingback role, but he is likely to provide Diogo Dalot with competition for the right-back slot if he does make the switch to Old Trafford.

As Plettenberg mentions, talks over Frimpong’s future are not scheduled to take place until after the World Cup so we may have to wait a few weeks to find out more about this potential transfer.
