Manchester United are considering Sassuolo winger Jeremie Boga as a backup option if they fail to sign Jadon Sancho, according to reports in the English media.
The Ivorian has been lighting up Serie A with his performances this season following his move from Chelsea last summer. The Blues have, though, opted against triggering a buyback option which would have seen the 23-year-old move back to Stamford Bridge.
Supporters on Twitter think signing a Chelsea castoff would not be sufficient if they miss out on Sancho:
Signing Chelsea’s left overs. This club is finished

Instead of Jeremie Boga United should rather go for Samuel Chukwueze of Villarreal….

Boga? More like Bogus that we’re looking for an alternative

Backups shouldn't be an option any more

Just comparing the two players’ numbers this season, you can see the vast difference in quality between them. While Sancho has scored 20 goals in all competitions, Boga has bagged only eight.
In terms of assists, the gap is even wider, with the Borussia Dortmund ace having racked up 20, while the Sassuolo player has only managed four.
Even when you take into consideration that Boga has played 16 fewer games, Sancho is clearly the better option out of the two.
