‘Sign Him Up!’ ‘Exactly What United Need!’ Fans React As Legend Speaks Out On Taking Up Potential Senior Role At The Club

Manchester United legend Edwin van der Sar says he would be open to taking up an administrative position at Old Trafford in the future.

The Dutchman is currently Chief Executive at Ajax, and he says that United would be the only other club he’d consider moving to if he was offered a similar role:

“It’s nothing new for me, my name circulates there [at United for a long time. [With] the work and pressure, you should have a feeling with the club. The pressure is different and I won’t work at a club where I don’t have a feeling. I could only do this for Ajax or United. I would not work for any other clubs.”

Current Chief Executive Ed Woodward is leaving his post at the end of the season so van der Sar would be the ideal candidate to replace him, and fans on Twitter have called on the Red Devils to make a move:

Appointing someone like van der Sar, who knows both the footballing and business aspects of the job, could prove important to get United through this period of instability.

Fans anger toward the Glazers spilled over into protests at Old Trafford yesterday, leading to the postponement of the game against Liverpool, and it remains to be seen whether the current owners will dig in or decide to sell up.
