‘Shouldn’t Be Playing For Us’ ‘So Soft’ ‘He Isn’t A Defender’ Fans Bemoan United Star’s Performance In Villa Defeat

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof was culpable for Aston Villa’s opening goal yesterday afternoon.

The Swedish international was pulled out of position and was slow to get back as Leon Bailey got in behind to score with just seven minutes on the clock at Villa Park.

Supporters on Twitter were extremely disappointed with Lindelof’s part in Villa’s opener and his performance in general:

It does seem as though United’s defence is much weaker when Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are not both in the starting lineup. Over the years Lindelof’s naive defending has cost United plenty of goals and, at 28 years of age, you’d have thought that he would have improved. However, the centre-back continues to make the same mistakes, week in, week out.

With Varane out until the World Cup, you would expect that Harry Maguire will start ahead of Lindelof in the final two games before the tournament starts.
