Should United make any more signings this summer?

Manchester United have had a fairly quiet summer transfer window so far. The captures of £50m Fred and £20m Diogo Dalot caused much excitement early doors, but things have gone very quiet since.

Lee Grant joining the Red Devils on a free transfer was certainly a big shock to fans around the world, but his first team action will more than likely be very limited.

There have been various calls for United to continue their summer spending in order to keep up with their rivals, with the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal completing several top deals so far. The Premier League title race is certainly up in the air for the upcoming season, and if you fancy an early bet be sure to check out sports-bonuscode.co.uk.

It is widely recognised that Jose Mourinho needs to add another centre back, right winger, back-up striker and potentially a left back to the team – so why with just over two weeks left of the transfer window are we hearing very little?

Of course, two weeks is a lot of time to get deals over the line, but the only concrete rumours knocking about to do with United at the moment are outgoings rather than incomings.

And perhaps that’s with good reason too when you consider the sheer depth of talent at Jose Mourinho’s disposal. The Portuguese arguably already has a side capable of winning the Premier League, and bringing in further signings may only cause unrest within the team due to even stricter competition.

Here is a potential Manchester United XI for the new season, assuming that no one else joins or leaves the club.

On paper, that team looks extremely dangerous. Many have called for defensive reinforcements, but it is easy to forget just how good Bailly is on his day, and how well Victor Lindelof played at this summer’s World Cup.

You then have to consider the wealth of talent that didn’t make the cut into that XI, with the formation below a potential ‘second team’.

Again, even that side looks capable of giving any Premier League side a run for their money, and there would still be players such as Chris Smalling, Scott McTominay and Timothy Fosu-Mensah sat on the bench.

So do United really need to complete any more deals this summer? Or is it a case of getting rid of some deadwood first to make way for new players?
