Manchester United are “interested” in signing Leicester attacking midfielder James Maddison, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The English newspaper claims that the Red Devils, Tottenham and Newcastle are weighing up bids for the England international ahead of the summer transfer window.
Maddison is expected to be made available for between £45m and £60m, with the Foxes unwilling to let the player leave on a free transfer when his contract expires in 2024. Fans on Twitter are very much split on whether recruiting the player would be a good idea:
@ManUtd should be all over this

I rate him but isn’t he injury prone ? We have enough of those, we need more players like Bruno although I admit that won’t be easy to find 😂

Mac Allister, Pedro Goncalves, Wirtz, Dybala, Szoboszlai, Kamada, Musiala (if available) all >>>>>

It’s not even a debate! He’s a fantastic player, he’s PL-proven. @ManUtd MUST sign him.

If we buy Maddison 🤔🤔 Is he willing to play second fiddle to Bruno ?? Cos Bruno will always start and Bruno will always play 🤔

It should be pointed out that Maddison has had a very strong season, despite Leicester’s struggles. In the Premier League, the playmaker has scored nine goals and contributed seven assists in 25 appearances.
For the price he has been made available for, United are unsurprisingly tempted, although manager Erik ten Hag may feel that he doesn’t need another attacking midfield player, especially as there are more urgent priorities in other areas of the pitch.
