Serie A Star Admits He’s Flattered To be Linked To Manchester United

Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar says he is happy that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is an admirer of his, but he is focused on playing for the Nerazzurri.

The Slovakian international has been linked with a possible move to Old Trafford in the January transfer window, along with AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli.

When asked about the reports, Skriniar didn’t rule out a switch to United but insisted he’s only interested in playing for Inter:

“When some coach like Jose says that he is looking for a player like me or somebody else, it’s always nice, but I don’t know why these rumours continue. I’ve not said anything to anybody, just what you can see on the web.”

“Even if Jose is one of the most famous, best, greatest coaches in the world, it’s not something I think of because I’m playing for Inter and am happy here at Inter.”

United failed to sign a centre-back in the summer and after conceding a high number of goals in the opening months of the season, it’s highly likely that the club will sanction a move for a defender when the transfer window reopens.

It is believed that Skriniar doesn’t have a release clause in his contract, and with Inter not short of cash due to being owned by a Chinese consortium, a sizeable bid would likely be needed for the Serie A club to let the 23-year-old leave.
