Scholes Confident That United Won’t Make The Same Error Twice On Sancho Deal

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes says he expects his former club to go the “extra mile” to secure a deal for Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils lost out to Borussia Dortmund for Erling Haaland back in January and Scholes thinks Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be keen to avoid the same mistake in negotiations to sign Sancho:

“United were desperate for Haaland as well and they didn’t quite go that extra mile to pay the money. Will they do it for Sancho? I think they will, if Ole desperately wants him they’ll get him.”

Dortmund are, though, taking a hardline stance on Sancho with sporting director Michael Zorc having publicly stated that the England international will be staying put this summer.

However, the Bundesliga side are likely playing hardball as they look to secure a transfer fee of €120m for the 20-year-old, without add-ons being included in the deal.

One key difference from the Haaland negotiations, though, is the fact that United are unlikely to face competition from other clubs for Sancho due to the financial impact of the global health crisis.

It could mean that negotiations over the transfer extend into the start of next season with the window only set to shut in October.
