Scholes Calls On United To Sign “Sensational” 20 Year Old Who He Believes Can Reach Ronaldo And Messi’s Level

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes would like his former club to revive their interest in Erling Haaland when the transfer window reopens.

The Red Devils tried to sign the 20-year-old from Red Bull Salzburg last January before the striker eventually moved to Borussia Dortmund, but Scholes feels they should persist in their pursuit of the Norwegian, who could become one of the best players in the world:

“I think Haaland is sensational. I think he will be up there with the Ronaldo’s and Messi’s, possibly, with what I have seen so far.”

Scholes is adamant that United need a genuine number nine and Haaland would certainly fit the bill considering his goal record. He has scored 21 goals in 23 appearances for Dortmund since he arrived at the Bundesliga club ten months ago.

The Norwegian international also reportedly has a €75m (£68m) release clause which would make him an attractive target at that price. United’s focus has been on signing a right-winger, though, and after signing another forward in Edinson Cavani on deadline day earlier this month, a bid for Haaland doesn’t seem that likely currently.
