Scholes Calls On United To Make Three Key Signings To Strengthen Attack

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes the Red Devils are in desperate need of three attacking players in order to improve their fortunes on the pitch.

A much-changed side struggled to create chances in the 1-0 win against Partizan Belgrade last night, and Scholes feels manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs a box to box midfielder, a playmaker and a front line striker to make the necessary improvements:

“It’s a team that really lacks creativity. We’re lacking on a real No 10 I think, a player that can play passes through and is capable of scoring goals as well.”

“Also maybe a patrolling midfield player who can set all the play up as well, take the ball off the back four and link it through to the forward. And I also think they’re desperate for a No 9, I don’t think they’re good enough in the forward areas.”

United could do with Scholes himself at the moment, considering the lack of goals from midfield. They have scored just two in three Europa League group games and just ten in nine league matches.

Such a poor record puts tremendous pressure on the defence, which to be fair has performed pretty well both in the Premier League and in Europe.

With the January transfer window still over two months away, though, the fear is that United’s blunt attack could lead to more poor results going forward.
