Sanchez Makes Frank Admission About His Transfer To Manchester United

Former Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez has revealed he wanted to return to Arsenal a day after making the switch to Old Trafford.

The Chilean international moved to the Red Devils in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan during the January 2018 transfer window but speaking about the transfer, he says he instantly regretted the decision:

“I got the opportunity to go to United and it seemed tempting to me. It was something nice for me because when I was a kid I liked that club a lot. I ended up signing without much information about what was happening in the move. The first days that I was with my colleagues, sometimes there are things that you do not realise until you arrive.”

“The first training I had I realised many things. I got home and I told my representative: ‘Can’t the contract be terminated to return to Arsenal?’ They start laughing and I told them that something did not sit right with me. It had already been signed.”

Sanchez’s lack of motivation to play for United was clear for all to see during his brief stay in Manchester. The Chilean also had his fair share of injuries, which didn’t help matters, but it seems he wasn’t happy with the atmosphere in the dressing room.

The 31-year-old doesn’t go into detail about it but it is certainly a harsh assessment considering he was content to take the money the club were offering him. Although the winger has certainly improved his form since moving to Inter Milan, very few supporters would have lamented his departure.
