Samuel Luckhurst Reveals That United Have Also Had Discussions With Former Roma Manager

Manchester United have spoken to former Roma, Marseille and Lyon boss Rudi Garcia about becoming interim manager, according to the Manchester Evening News journalist Samuel Luckhurst.

Whilst ex Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde and Lokomotiv Moscow Head of Football Ralf Rangnick have also been shortlisted, Luckhurst mentions Garcia as another possible option:

Despite Michael Carrick helping to guide United to the last 16 of the Champions League with their 2-0 win over Villarreal last night, the club’s board are seemingly pressing ahead with their search for a new manager.

Mauricio Pochettino appears to be the firm favourite to manage the club in the long term but, after an initial approach was rebuffed by Paris Saint-Germain, it does appear as though they may have to wait until the summer to get the Argentinian.

With that being the case, a decision could well be made soon on whether to appoint Garcia, Valverde, Rangnick or another unknown managerial candidate.
