Manchester United legend Roy Keane says he would not have any problems with David De Gea and Harry Maguire falling out with him if (hypothetically) he was appointed as the club’s next manager.

The Irishman has been very critical of the pair during his time as a pundit but the ex-United captain says he would want both De Gea and Maguire to show him why he was mistaken to make such comments:

“So the first thing, you’d walk into the club, pull them two [and say] ‘I’ve been really critical… prove me wrong’. And that’s the end of the conversation. If they get upset, no problem, players are upset all the time. And it’s not about the players liking the manager. The most important thing is, you hope, that the players respect the manager.”

To be fair, Keane has upset a lot of people during his time as a player, manager and pundit, and it has worked for and against him over the years.

His prickly demeanour is unlikely to go down too well in a modern dressing room, though, and you would think that if, he ever were to manage United, it would probably end with a massive fallout with the players. He is not afraid to butt a few heads, to say the least.
