Roy Keane Names 250M Rated Pair As He Calls On United To Make “Big, Big Signing”

Manchester United legend Roy Keane wants his former club to pursue either Harry Kane or Jack Grealish as a marquee signing this summer.

Tottenham are thought to want at least £150m for Kane, while Aston Villa are expected to demand up to £100m for their captain, but Keane feels the Red Devils need to make a statement to demonstrate they are genuine title contenders:

“United need to go and make a big, big signing, whether it’s Kane or Grealish – put a marker down. OK, they need another centre-half, but I still think at the top end of the pitch, when you look at some of the games this year that they’ve drawn, they’ve lacked that real bit of quality.”

“They’ve got some brilliant players and I agree that there’s been progress,” Keane said. “The worry for Manchester United is the next step is the biggest and the hardest one, to go and get that league title.”

Kane may ask to leave Spurs in the summer if the London club don’t finish in the top four, but United may have to fend off interest from the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea for the 27-year-old’s signature.

In Grealish’s case, there is unlikely to be as much competition but Villa will drive a hard bargain, with the playmaker having only signed a new contract back in September.

There are also questions over whether United will have the spending power to pay such sizeable fees, considering the impact of the global health crisis, so we shall see how the summer transfer window plays out.
